Marcus Sakey's BRILLIANCE, Texas, and Me

I have written quite a bit about the state of education in Texas, most recently in story #2 here.

That being said, I just have to share this:

I opened a new book last night.  It's the first in a dystopian trilogy about "normal" humans who are in conflict with a small subset of humans called "Brilliants."  

Just a few paragraphs in, I came across this sentence:  "Sure, because there are no brilliants in Texas."

I shot tea out my nose.
