So, Who Do You Choose for President?

On Wednesday, in response to growing anger over a video made in the U.S. that mocked Mohammed, the American Embassy in Cairo issued a statement, (who issued the statement is not clear though it was not approved by the White House), asking for religious tolerance. This statement was issued hours before the attack on the our mission in Benghazi, Libya. “We firmly reject the actions by those who abuse the universal right of free speech to hurt the religious beliefs of others.”

When news of the attack in Benghazi reached Mitt Romney, he seized the moment and, quoting the unauthorized statement from Cairo, (which had been issued hours before the attack, and so obviously was not a response to the attack), accused the President of apologizing for American values while appeasing Islamic extremists. “It‘s disgraceful that the Obama administration‘s first response was not to condemn attacks on our diplomatic missions, but to sympathize with those who waged the attacks.”

President Obama’s actual response was: "The United States condemns in the strongest terms this outrageous and shocking attack, and make no mistake, we will work with the Libyan government to bring to justice the killers who attacked our people."

Later, in a statement in the Rose Garden, he said:  "I strongly condemn the outrageous attack on our diplomatic facility in Benghazi, which took the lives of four Americans, including Ambassador Chris Stevens. Right now, the American people have the families of those we lost in our thoughts and prayers. They exemplified America's commitment to freedom, justice, and partnership with nations and people around the globe, and stand in stark contrast to those who callously took their lives...As we stand united with their families, let us now redouble our own efforts to carry their work forward."

what eye thynk: So who do you choose for President? The man who offered comfort to the victims’ families and vowed justice for their losses or the man who crassly attempted to use the situation for his own political gain?
