Eye Recommend - Blow Out in Boca

THE BLOWOUT IN BOCA, by Steve Benen -- "It left voters with a detached message that bordered on incoherence: Obama has a failed foreign policy ... which I intend to implement if elected."

After watching the final presidential debate last night, my husband said he thought Obama had won and apparently Mr. Benen agrees with him.  I thought it was a draw.

While President Obama demonstrated that he was "in charge", I tried to look at it from the perspective of a voter who didn't watch Fox or MSNBC, who didn't read a lot of in-depth political reporting in magazines or newspapers--the voter whose only exposure to the candidates has been their ads and these debates.  That voter saw Romney switch sides on most issues and lie about everything else in the first two debates, though without prior knowledge, his flip-flopping and lying could have been interpreted as the truth.  This final debate saw Romney offering nothing really original or extraordinary, though he did manage to get in his I-know-how-to-run-a-business-and-create-jobs claim several times and that is my worry; because that, whether it is true or not, is the strongest point of his message.  If someone listened only to the ads and these debates and did no independent fact checking on their own, Romney actually comes out sounding credible--scarily credible.  I just hope that the uninformed do not get the final word on the next four years.

  1. after reading your post I have what I think is the answer to your conundrum:
#1 ~ your husband is very astute. #2 ~ I agree with the guy who said "Romney looks more like a guy running for governor than president. #3 ~ I agree with you.#4 ~ The economy CAN be fixed and I have a plan. #5 ~ I've hosted Open Mics and learned through years and years of experience on how to manage a business (sorta)
Kidding aside, last night's debate showed President Obama being 'Presidential' and Mr. Romeny using his etch-a-sketch political plan.
