We welcomed every immigrant coming to America with this simple statement: "Give us your poor, your tired, your huddled masses longing to be free..." "Huddled masses" ~ Hmnn, you don't really have to mull that phrase over to figure out that it means every body. Everybody! ALL Americans.
"We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility...". "Domestic Tranquility.." Say those two simple words to yourself. Say it again. Hear it. Feel it. We all know that quote is from The Constitution of the United States of America. The same Constitution that called for separation of church and state. Why then would the GOP call for anything that would deny gay women and homosexual men the very Rights we live by?
I cannot help but believe there is a very strong tie between church and state on this issue How then, did a fairly large portion of American citizens be denied that same"domestic tranquility"? These gay folk are our children. Our sisters, brothers,neighbors, the guy who mows your lawn.
These are very real people with very real feelings and intellect and a major asset for America.
Why would anyone have to remind them with that wonderful rendition of the Statue of Liberty. "Liberty": Now there's another 'word'...
