Kylie Morris speaking to DeRay McKesson (Channel 4 screen grab) |
... Morris told her British audience that the commemoration of the one year anniversary of Michael Brown's death had been interrupted by armed Oath Keepers, who claimed that they were there to protect businesses and conservative journalists...
... Morris noted that black protesters faced pepper spray, arrests and other actions by riot police...

Unnecessary and inflammatory. Thats according to the St. Louis County police chief and I have to agree. These morons show up under the pretense of protecting property when in reality they are an embarrassment to themselves and to Ferguson. In Ohio, it is legal to walk around with a loaded weapon as long as it isn't concealed. And, if you are standing in front of a business, it would appear that you are guarding that business. But what happens if someone else, say, one of the black residents of Ferguson shows up to exercise his same rights? He appears carrying a loaded weapon and appears to be guarding the business just like the white oath keeper. So who gets arrested? These so-called oath keepers are a bunch of white thugs and wannabe quasi-military types. Even though some are veterans and ex-cops, they should know better. Especially the ex-cops. They should know that their presence could incite more violence and give residents yet another reason to parade around carrying a gun. The police in Ferguson already have their hands full, so unless someone is actually asked to be there, or is working for one of several law enforcement agencies, then please stay away. It is indeed inflammatory.
