Carly Fiorina is Not the GOP Pathway to Women Voters

eye'm thynkin': This excellent letter was published in the New York Times last Tuesday in response to a NYTimes article on Carly Fiorina and women voters. I am reprinting it in its entirety, because, well, I wish I'd written it myself.

"To the Editor:

Just because Carly Fiorina can string together several hundred words that sound coherent does not mean she may be a 'credible antidote' to (justifiable) claims of a Republican war on women. ( Carly Fiorina Offers Republicans a Pathway to Reach Women front page, Sept. 18)

Women are not merely looking for a woman to sit in the Oval Office.  We are looking for a candidate who will stand up for our rights, who will fight to ensure that we do not continue to be relegated to second-class citizenship, who will demand that women themselves get to control what happens within our bodies, who will reject economic mumbo-jumbo that will make it harder to provide for our families and ourselves, and who will provide steady, reasonable and intelligent leadership instead of this country's disgraceful 'shock and awe' militaristic mentality.

I'm glad she had a well-planned comeback to Donald Trump's hideous remarks on her appearance.  But defending oneself is very different from defending the rights of 160 million women and girls.
