How Long Before a "Good Guy With a Gun" Kills an Innocent?

1 - "The delusional fantasies that gun enthusiasts entertain about being a 'good guy with a gun' were proven to be nonsense once again by an incident (late last month), when a man attempting to stop a carjacking in Houston, Texas, shot the victim in the head by mistake.

At 11.15 pm on September 27th, two men began to try to steal an occupied car.  A passerby decided to involve himself and 'save the day' by firing several gunshots at the vehicle.  The two thieves were unscathed, but the carjacking victim took a bullet in the head and is now in critical condition."

eye'm thynkin':  Another report in a Houston newspaper said the shooter picked up his shell casings and left the scene before police arrived. Police recovered the stolen truck and are searching for the carjackers and the shooter.  So proud to be a "good guy" that he is hiding from law enforcement.

2 - "The dangerous consequences of having a heavily armed civilian population was put on full display early afternoon on Wednesday, when a woman pulled out a concealed pistol and began firing at alleged shoplifters as they drove out of the parking lot of a Home Depot in Auburn Hills, Michigan.  Police are considering whether or not to charge her with anything.

The woman, 47, had a concealed carry permit and a legal weapon, but the problems arising from this are obvious.  First of all, it was not her place to take the law into her own hands to stop thieves committing a minor theft.  Secondly, when did the crime of minor theft carry the death penalty?"

It's gotten so nowhere is safe anymore.  Gun-loving idiots like this woman and the guy in the story above are well on their way to making us a nation where all the sane people are agoraphobes.
