The church's claim is that a bike lane would reduce the availability of street parking near the church.
"One church has given a charged response to some proposals, saying that a bike lane near its property would infringe upon 'its constitutionally protected rights of religious freedom and equal protection of the laws.'...
...The parking loss would place an unconstitutionally undue burden on people who want to pray, the church argues..."
eye'm thynkin': Beyond the church's obvious selfish mind-set that an entire city of bike riders should be inconvenienced six days a week in order to protect church parking on Sunday, lurks the question: Since when does freedom of religion include the right to handy parking?
