"As the sheriff in Douglas County, Oregon, John Hanlin was front and center following Thursday's shooting at Umpqua Community College, which left 10 dead and 7 others wounded.
Two years ago, Hanlin was one of hundreds of sheriffs around the country to vow to stand against new gun control legislation. In a January 15, 2013, letter to Vice President Joe Biden, he wrote, 'Gun control is NOT the answer to preventing heinous crimes like school shootings.'"
In his letter, Mr. Hanlin claimed that gun regulations are unconstitutional and then warned the Vice President: "Therefore, the second purpose of this letter is to make notification that any federal regulation enacted by Congress or by executive order of the President offending the Constitutional rights of my citizens shall not be enforced by me or by my deputies, nor will I permit the enforcement of any unconstitutional regulations or orders by federal officers within the borders of Douglas County Oregon."
You can read his entire letter at the link below.
eye'm thynkin': I wonder how the families and friends of those 10 Umpqua students feel about Mr. Hanlin's stand against common sense now? Vote him out!
